Pastoral Team

Pastors Danielle Parish & Kevin Neuner

Danielle and Kevin are the pastors and founders of Spark Church. They make their home in Mountain View, California with their daughters. They have been dreaming of this little start-up church since they married in 1998.

Prior to launching Spark, Danielle served over 12 years as a pastor in the diverse fellowship of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, providing pastoral leadership and overseeing ministry to infants through sixth grade. She also served for five years as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner for the city of Millbrae. Kevin is the Spiritual Life Director at The King's Academy, a Christian college-preparatory Junior & Senior High School. They studied at William Jessup UniversityJerusalem University College, with That the World May Know Ministries, ultimately receiving Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. Between the two of them, they have over 4 decades of pastoral experience. Traveling and studying in Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Greece and Egypt, they are passionate about teaching the Bible in historical and cultural context and lead annual study tours to Israel. Danielle and Kevin are associated with the Biblical Language Center with Dr. Randall Buth and are ardent supporters of Shevet Achim. Danielle is also a contributor to Jerusalem Perspective and an Ambassador Speaker on the subject of human trafficking for the Bay Area Anti-Trafficking Coalition.

Pastor Mark Arevalo

In addition to regular pastoral duties and responsibilities, Mark helps to create intergenerational ministry cultures that focus on children, youth, families, and adults in fully integrated spiritual development. A Bay Area native, Mark worked in the tech industry for nearly a decade; and he has rejoined it after serving as a director within the children's ministry of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship. Mark recently completed the Master of Divinity program at Fuller Theological Seminary. He believes that as the family of God, the universal Church is tasked with ministering to individual families of all shapes and sizes.

When not sitting and reading quietly in a local coffee shop, Mark can be found walking around town and on Bay Area trails...and looking for a place to sit and read quietly. Contact him at [email protected].

Advisory Board

Stacy Ishigaki
Stacy is an inaugural member of Spark's Advisory Board. A teacher by occupation and vocation, Stacy has spent the last eight years teaching English at an East Palo Alto high school, helping students, as Paulo Freire writes, to discover the power of reading the word and reading the world and then, "writing it or rewriting it, that is, of transforming it by means of conscious, practical work."

Stacy grew up in San Ramon and lived in Los Angeles before returning to the Bay Area and making her home in Palo Alto.  She has served in small group and young adult fellowships, prayer ministry, Bible studies, and mission teams in Mexico and India. She is committed to justice and the freedom that comes with Christian discipleship, including open dialogue, growth, integrity, love, and radical reconciliation. She is also an enthusiastic (fair trade) coffee drinker.
Jason Primuth
Jason is our most recent member to join Spark's Advisory Board. He is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for start-ups and new business ventures, and he is currently focused on legal technology and services.

Jason and his wife, Jennifer, are Minnesota natives who moved to the Bay Area in 2000 and now live in Menlo Park with their two children, Jack and Audrey. He and his family have always been very involved in the life of the local church, with his family of origin often hosting missionaries. He is excited to participate in the life of the Spark community. He enjoys traveling, tasty food, and spending time with his family.
Tina Sandoval
Tina is an inaugural member of Spark's Advisory Board.  The daughter of a pastor, she has 20 years of church leadership experience, including seven years in vocational ministry. As a ministry director at Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, she worked extensively with children, and particularly those with special needs and their families. She is currently working towards a psychology degree at William Jessup University, with an eye towards early intervention with autistic children.

A Livermore native, Tina lives with her three children -- Juliana, Mari, and Josiah -- in the hills of Hayward, CA.  Tina joined Spark Church as someone disenchanted with the institutional nature of church, and as someone intrigued by the possibility of creating a local church community that can provide both rich teaching and innovations in answering God's call to love our neighbor. Among other things, Tina is a diehard 49er fan, a coffee addict, a foodie, and a social shopper and bargain hunter.
Jason Vann
Jason is an inaugural member of Spark's Advisory Board. A New York native (and Yankees fan), Jason grew up in Queens and Long Island, and worked in Manhattan until relocating to the Bay Area in 2006. He is an accountant by trade, with years of accounting and auditing experience. He presently works as the chief financial officer for a school district in San Jose. In addition to serving on the advisory board, Jason is also the church treasurer. At Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, he served as a vibrant teacher and leader in the children's ministry. He also participated in various volunteer activities that utilized his rapport with children and his construction skills.

Jason lives in San Jose with his wife Sara Grace and their daughter Maly. He feels called to take part in a church community that values love, reconciliation, rescue, resurrection, reputation, and relationship with God and neighbor; and his prayer is that Spark will be one of many beacons of hope for those seeking protection, justice, and answers.
Sara Grace Vann
Sara Grace is an inaugural member of Spark's advisory board. Born in the Bay Area, Sara Grace grew up on San Juan Island in Washington State, attended college at Stanford, and served with AmeriCorps and completed graduate school on the East Coast before returning to the Bay Area. Sara Grace is passionate about students and education, having worked as a school counselor and educator in the Redwood City and East Palo Alto communities. At Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, Sara Grace served as an outstanding teacher and leader in children's ministry.

Sara Grace lives in San Jose with husband Jason and their daughter Maly.  They feel drawn to assist in establishing a new church community, and to connect with those who have never been part of a church community, and those who experienced spiritual abuse in a church context. She desires to find protection and justice for the marginalized in our society.

Prayer Team

Chris and Wilna Derr
Chris and Wilna were married in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Sunnyvale, California, where they raised their three children.  They work together designing databases, and they celebrated their 40th anniversary with a trip to Israel with Spark.

Developing their personal faith later in life, both have served in several ministry capacities: Wilna as a deacon, elder, Community Bible Study and small group leader; and Chris as a deacon, Stephen Minister and volunteer chaplain. Drawn by Spark's commitment to teaching and expressing the love of God, they continue at Spark because of their love for everyone in the Spark community.

Chris and Wilna enjoy camping at their favorite national parks—Glacier, Grand Tetons and Rocky Mountain, or at their annual family gathering near Kings Canyon. More locally, Wilna is a morning lap swimmer and periodic jogger while Chris is an ex-runner turned biker. They also spend time visiting their children and their families all across the country.
